These aggregates, made up of fine dark-coloured plates, have exceptional physical and chemical properties. Their open micro-alveolar structure gives them both a high absorption capacity for aqueous solutions and a large specific surface area. In other words, they have a very high adsorption capacity.

The main constituents of these aggregates are as follows:

Silica (SiO₂): Approximately 56% of the composition.

Alumina (Al₂O₃): Approximately 26% of the composition.

Mineral elements: Approximately 16% of the composition.

The molecules of water or another solution are inserted between the parallel plates and occupy the cavities formed by several plates.

These granules contain essential trace nutrients in their physical structure, which considerably enhances gas and water exchange.

The particle shown measures around 13 to 15 microns. Its inner surface is remarkably spacious, with characteristic cavities, and is easy to observe.
